Lori Coleman-Brown

Lori has over 30 years of experience as a Classical Pilates Instructor, and is the Director of Education, Teacher Training and Graduate Teaching Programs at Atlas Pilates in Seattle, WA. An experienced teacher, lecturer and workshop leader, she teaches in studios, clinics and conferences nationally and internationally.

In her teaching, she balances tuning the parts with coordinating the whole and sees the Pilates Powerhouse as a shape shifting support system. She uses Pilates to develop clients’ abilities with a mind for healthy ranges of joint motion, proportion and the daily activities these abilities will enhance. She is grateful for the wonderful students whose hard work transforms them before her very eyes. She has been thanked for her demonstrations in workshops for real body solutions to the common answer “it depends on the body”.

Lori began studying Pilates with Romana in New York in the early 1980’s, and was teaching by 1986. Under Romana’s tutelage, Lori learned not only the exercise forms and rhythms, but how to give people what they need. Lori was taught by Romana that “each person is like a painting and no two are alike”. In 1999, Lori was deeply honoured to be personally invited by Romana to be one of her Teacher Trainers. Romana forged a wide path and touched many people with her dynamic method of teaching, and being, and Lori is very grateful for her connection with her mentor.

Lori earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the State University of New York at Purchase and a Master of Physical Therapy from Temple University in Philadelphia. Prior to pursuing her degree in physical therapy, Lori worked as a Pilates instructor and professional dancer. As a physical therapist she worked in hospitals, clinics and with professional dancers backstage on Broadway shows in New York and in Seattle.

In 1992, Lori moved to the west coast to open the first Pilates Teacher Certification Center in the Pacific Northwest which she co-directed for 16 years, successfully training over a hundred highly accomplished instructors. She realised that her true passion is exploring the full body of Joe Pilates’ work with its detailed application to the individual. She decided to step away from studio ownership in order to focus on teaching. She learns something new every day while helping her clients and herself get stronger, more flexible and happier by using the Pilates Method.

Lori is also a featured presenter on Pilatesology.

Gloria Gasperi

Pilates E-Motion, Italy

Founder of the Pilates E-Motion educational school, trained at Vintage Pilates in Los Angeles and selected by Jay Grimes for “Teaching the Work”.

Gloria Gasperi

Gloria discovers Pilates in 1999 during a trip in Boston.

Pilates represents for Gloria the perfect connection between two big passions: movement and education, that brought her to practise many sports at competitive level and to earn a degree in movement sciences with educational orientation.

In 2012 she starts her path at Vintage Pilates in Los Angeles, owned by Sandy Shimoda and directed by Jay Grimes, who has been a student of Joe and Clara Pilates.

At Vintage she accomplished the Master “The Work” in 2013 and she had the honour and privilege, in 2015, to be selected by Jay himself, with 11 other colleagues from all over the world, for “Teaching the Work”. It is a Master Program, one year and a half long, during which Gloria, under the direct guide of Jay, had the possibility to refine her teaching.

The respect for the original work, the importance to use the movement as a tool to heal and educate people, the development of your own instinct, of intuition, find your own voice, unique and personal, to spread the Method, are the teachings of Jay that mostly captured Gloria’s attention and that she develops every day.

In 2013 Gloria founded the educational school for teachers, Pilates e-motion, that, by a complete and personalised program, spreads the magic of the Method, the knowledge of the System and allows the students to become aware and master their own work and passion.

She also founded the Pilates e-motion Master Program, a continuing education Program, for all teachers fully certified and with teaching experience, who wish to get deeper in the understanding of the work, to keep exploring the System and its immense possibilities.

Gloria also works with her beloved father, the amazing Prof Maurizio Gasperi, a world renowned endocrinologist, to organise courses of Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics, with the goal to link the knowledge of how the human body works and the use of the Pilates System.

Gloria teaches all over the world in events and as guest in other Schools and appears in many videos on Pilatesology, the world’s best recognised website for classical Pilates videos, and regularly teaches for The Pilates Link, a worldwide platform for Pilates sessions.

Passion, integrity, commitment, pleasure to share and make people feel good are the traits of her teaching and the motivations that allow her to feel and spread the magic of Pilates!
